San Antonio is also known as Military City due to the vast military presence at JBSA-Randolph, JBSA-Lackland, and JBSA-Fort Sam Houston. San Antonio Parks

The San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department operates the City’s recreational and cultural programs and maintains more than 240 City-owned parks including swimming pools, gymnasiums, historic cemeteries, sports facilities, recreation centers and the Botanical Garden and Conservatory. The department is responsible for the maintenance of 15,337.5950 acres of park land, including more than 150 miles of walking, hiking, and biking trails. Visit for more information.

San Antonio Schools

The city of San Antonio is home to 17 independent school districts, including some of the best public schools in the nation.

There are also many elite institutes of higher learning, such as the University of Texas at San Antonio, Texas A&M University – San Antonio, and the Alamo Community College District.

Sports fans will find plenty of quality teams to root for in San Antonio. This community is home to the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs, the UTSA Roadrunners, the San Antonio Missions Double-A baseball team, and the San Antonio FC soccer club.
